Hell, you can buy another rifle with the money you save!!Īnyway…The Vortex Viper (Generation 1) PST cost me $449.00 from EuroOptic. When you can buy a great scope that can compete with the top of the line glass for a fraction of the cost. The question is – is it worth the $1000-$2500 more? To me, No! It doesn’t make sense (at least for me) to spend that extra money. Now…Is there better glass out there than the Vortex Viper? Yes, to be 100% honest there is. With their products you actually get more than what you pay for. So Vortex kind of threw that old saying out the window. From my experience with Vortex they have always provided superior quality for a reasonable price. The old saying of “you get what you pay for” is true in most scenarios. Good quality glass can cost a lot of money – really when it comes to scopes you can spend as much as you want or as little as you want. I had no doubt that this scope will preform as I needed it to. The finish of the scope was well done, dials moved easily, focus rings moved smoothly, the glass was clear and the retical was easy to see. The scope its self was in perfect condition ( as you would expect from a new scope). Inside the box the scope was tightly secured, in a heavy duty plastic bag, sun shade was wrapped in paper and secured well too. Anyway, when I received the package it was packaged very neatly, all boxes were in good shape and no sign of damage. When I received the scope ( which came remarkably fast) Euro Optic’s free shipping is super fast. Today I am going to be talking about the Vortex Viper PST 6-24×50 rifle scope. I currently own two Vortex Viper rifle scopes and the Vortex Viper 10×42 binoculars. That is exactly what I have found with the Viper line-up from Vortex Optics. Now, I demand high quality, rugged and clear optics ( at a reasonable price) for my rifles. Well, a lot has changed since I was that young, none picky little boy. I just needed to be able to see the retical and see the object I was wanting to shoot. As a young child the type of scope I used didn’t matter. I started shooting at the young age of 5 years old using a Rugar 10/22 to shoot pop cans and prairie dogs. If you checkout a lot of my shooting photos and video, there is a good chance you will see the Vortex Viper PST Gen II in action.Vortex Viper PST 6-24×50 MOA EBR-2C Rifle Scope: The optic is a great choice for the long-range shooter/hunter and provides excellent value for money. It has been exposed to a variety of weather conditions and been hauled across the country, and its stood up to every challenge I’ve thrown at it. This has been for both hunting and long-range shooting applications. I have used the Vortex Viper PST Gen II extensively over the last 12 months and it has been flawless. However, for a long range target rifle weight isn’t going to be an issue if the rifle is only being carried from the car to the rifle range. The weight could be on the heavy side for a hunting firearm, but if you are looking at making long range shots on game, you will need clear glass and a durable optics for the job. Being able to trust the optics tracking and know that it can take a hit out in the field are massive positives for the optic. This however was not an issue as the clarity of the glass combined with the very defined reticle markings made target identification a breeze. Coming from a simpler reticle in the HST, there was some hesitation on how target acquisition would be affected from a busier reticle. The significant hash marks in the reticle are aimed at supporting the long-distance shooter. The EBR-2C reticle in the Viper PST Gen II is a very versatile reticle. So, when it was time to start looking for a long range, precision shooting optic to replace the Vortex Viper HST, the Vortex Viper PST Gen II was on the watch list. Having owned a variety of different Vortex scopes, spotting scopes and range finders over the years, they haven’t once let me down. There is comfort knowing that if something breaks or it accidentally gets dropped, it’s going to be replaced. This includes house fires, accidentally driving over it, dog eating it. Vortex replace their products no matter what happens to it during its lifetime. The biggest draw card to this optics company for a lot of people is their lifetime ‘VIP’ warranty on all products. The company has been around since 2002 and is based out of the US. The manufacturer of the PST Gen II Vortex Optics, have a huge cult following around the world and are known for making optics to suit all budgets. It’s coming up to almost 12 months with the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25×50 FFP (first focal plane) and time to look back how the scope has performed.
